Overview

This trail is one of Zlatibor’s hidden gems. The Chigota ridge lies to the south of Zlatibor. It is a picturesque chain of peaks, 1,300–1,400 metres high, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains on both sides. The highest point is Mount Chigota (1,422 m); this is where we start the trek and gradually descend towards the pine forests of Zlatibor, taking time to admire the scenery all around us. The trek is 13.5 km long, technically straightforward, with a total ascent of 400 m and a descent of 750 m.

In spring, the slopes of these mountains are covered in flowers; it’s absolutely beautiful there. And after the hike, a cosy restaurant awaits us.

The journey to Zlatibor is a long one – over three hours – but believe me, it’s well worth it.
What's the Plan?
A trail along the mountain ridge and five small peaks.
A walk along a wide, easy path, with views of the Balkans in every direction.
Let’s make some tea and relax in a lovely spot.
Suitable for everyone, but be prepared for a short, steep climb. It’s definitely worth it!
Programme
We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant after finishing the hike.
21:00−22:00 — Return to Belgrade. We will drop off the residents of Novi Sad near the railway station.
8:00 — We’ll meet the transfer driver and guide in Ušče, Belgrade. The journey will take around 31/2 hours. We’ll stop for a coffee at a service station along the way.
We begin our trek. We arrive at the very top, at the summit of Chigot (1,422 m). From here, there are excellent views and our route is clearly visible. We then continue along the ridge, where five gentle peaks and interesting scenery await us. We’ll stop for a long break in a picturesque spot, make some tea on the stove and have a snack. Please bring your own snacks and water.
