FAQ:

Answers to frequently asked questions

Do I need experience to take part in the tours? What level of fitness is required?
Experience isn’t always necessary. We have routes for beginners, as well as tours designed exclusively for experienced participants. We specify the difficulty level in advance and discuss this when you book your tour.

Most of our tours are designed for an average level of fitness and do not require any special skills. The main thing is that you have no medical conditions preventing you from undertaking long walks and that you have the general stamina required for trekking across rough terrain.

Some of our tours are purely leisure-oriented, requiring no particular experience or physical exertion.
Do you provide equipment?
Yes, where necessary, technical equipment is included in the tour price. For via ferrata, we provide helmets, harnesses, neoprene suits and belay equipment on site. If you’re joining us for a river trip, we’ll have rafts, kayaks and canoes ready for you.
Is there medical support during the tour?
Our guides have basic first-aid training and carry a first-aid kit. In emergencies, we contact local services immediately.
What clothing should I bring?
For outdoor tours, hiking boots with good tread are highly recommended. The weather in the Balkan Mountains is changeable, so even in summer it is worth bringing a raincoat and warm clothes for the evening. For high-difficulty active tours (rock climbing, canyoning, etc.), the clothing requirements are very strict.

Before each tour, we advise you on what to wear.
How packed are the tour itineraries?
The itineraries are packed, but there’s no need to rush. We walk at the group’s pace and allow time for rest and acclimatisation. If you’re feeling tired, please let the guide know straight away. We always adapt to the participants' abilities, as this isn’t a competition.
What happens in bad weather?
In adverse weather conditions, we adjust the route or switch to an alternative one. Safety always takes precedence over sticking to the programme ‘at any cost'.
Will mobile phone coverage and the internet work in the countryside,
especially in the mountains?
In deep canyons and high-altitude areas, signal may be lost. In some rural areas, the signal may be patchy, and you should be prepared for this. However, at most rest stops and viewpoints, the signal is stable. In any case, our guides always have emergency communication devices.
Can I join the tour in my own car?
Yes, this is possible, but not always — it needs to be discussed in advance with our managers. If you are travelling independently to the tour location, we will provide the coordinates of the meeting points and ensure you stay in touch with the main group. And, of course, we will adjust the price to exclude our transfer service.
Can I bring a child? Are there any age restrictions?
We offer special family tours with routes and activities adapted for children.

For standard tours of medium difficulty, the recommended age for participants is 12 years and over. However, everything is discussed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specifics of the particular tour.
Is there a risk of encountering dangerous animals here in the Balkans?
Bears, wolves and wild boars are found in the forests, but they tend to avoid well-trodden paths. The risk of encountering them on group routes is minimal. In summer, you should be wary of ticks and snakes, so we recommend wearing long-sleeved clothing and using insect repellent.

All our routes are checked and led by experienced guides who are always in control of the situation.
